PI Update: Human Statues on the Island

My approach to Pleasure Island was cautious this evening. What would I find? Would the remnants of Celebrate Tonight be obliterated as though it never existed? Would those long-anticipated construction walls finally be in place around Soundstage and Adventurers Club? As I came over the bridge from the West Side, the quick answer to both questions was no. There were no changes.

But then my glance happened towards Adventurers Club and......omg/wtf! People were posing next to a bronze angel! But she was alive! And while stuck in a solid position for minutes at a time, every so often she'd tap an unsuspecting child on the shoulder or steal a pair of sunglasses!

Crowds gathered and even those in a hurry paused. She remained in place from 6:00pm to 6:30pm at which time her handler took her down to the offices below Celebration Plaza via the AC staircase. A few minutes later a different handler brought up a different statute, this time a red musician! Meanwhile Dominic who usually plays outside Wetzel's Pretzels began a set over in front of the old Celebrate Tonight shed.

Want to know what's going on? Check the Blog here tomorrow night. I've got more details!

Hey! Pay no attention to that empty building behind the "statue"!
Or that empty building! Or that one over there!

I assume this is "filler" entertainment which likely has a looser contract since these are all "outsourced" or rented acts (ie none work for Disney).

Props to Dominic Gaudious and his digeridoo - probably one of the most successful musicians to work the Downtown Disney area - musicians there come and go but Dominic has been there for about 2 years now and still going strong with his original music

The entertainment is indeed outsourced. And I have seen Dominic around for quite awhile now, on the West Side in front of Wetzel's.

My article tonight will share additional information about what is going on at Pleasure Island,

The production values look better, but you can see human statues in St. Augustine or New Orleans or... well, basically any town that's turned a street into a tourist trap. This is what outsourced third parties get you Disney... generic crap you can find anywhere else.

Good for Dominic. If only Disney had thought to add something similar to liven up the PI street before it closed...

I was recently in Barcelona and their tourist street has a lot of people making an income in the form of human statues. I'll post some of those this evening. They're incredible!
