Club Report: The Groove

The Groove was crowded last night but it just wasn't packed like we saw two weeks ago when Akon was the guest singer at Universal Studios Mardi Gras celebration. Country singer Miranda Lambert just does not draw as diverse or as partying of a crowd. But all the CityWalk clubs had long lines well beyond midnight. Saturday night resident DJ AJ led the mostly Hip Hop song selection although I did harass him because he actually tossed a few techno songs in there! ! With no competition from Disney, Universal pretty much has the tourist market to itself.

Club Report: Atlantic Dance Hall

Also stopped by Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's Boardwalk Resort on Friday night. There were actually more people in there than these pictures would lead you to believe. But kind of a disappointing-sized crowd considering it's spring break. Since ADH is not advertised except to people staying in Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin hotels, people just don't know about it and that's a shame. DJ Tony Z played mostly Top 40 videos and at one point, a whole medley of Mannequins hits!

Maybe The Groove will get CO2 blasts, and then I'll have to go there...

Hmmmm...Disney doesn't advertise ADH...Just like they didn't advertise PI...and look what that got them.
Way to go Disney!!

Still, so said to see PI gone, it was truly a clubbers paradise.

Disney has a contract with the Swan & Dolphin to operate a night club for the hotels. Apparently the contract does not require Disney to advertise it, just operate it. The club IS listed on the Disney World website but that's about it.

Yes, a CO2 blaster would be an awesome addition. The confetti blaster was only added about a year ago. The lighting equipment is pretty good and lighting tech Ian does a really good job with what he has to work with.

I saw someone next to the DJ booth in the Groove taking pictures in the Groove on Saturday and wondered if that was you, KB. Black shirt, purple beads?

Bill, that was me! I take a LOT more pics than ever get published.

Did you see all the action in the Ladies Room? One woman unconscious, another woman arrested, hand-cuffed and led out the rear door!

Bill said...

I did! It came to my attention when a woman came into the men's room instead... I joked about her sense of direction and she pointed at the ladies room and said "it's bad in there" as that one big security guy blocked the door. Good times. :) Never heard the whole story though.

You know, while I'd prefer an EDM mix and a spinning floor, the Groove is winning me over. If I'd known it was you I'd have said (well, slurred, anyway) hello in person.

The group of ladies I was with was forced to use the bathrooms down that tunnel beside LQ.

Well if you see me again, be sure to introduce yourself!
